Overview / Responsibilities





Wood is currently seeking an Project Engineer to join our Mining & Minerals team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Department Manager, this position is located at our Saskatoon, SK office.  If you are looking to build upon your career and continue to develop your skills in the mining and consulting industries, we want to hear from you.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to the project engineering manager on assigned project(s)
  • Fully understand the requirements of the project scope and schedule
  • Undertake basic schedule preparation, planning and resource forecasting for engineering activities relating to the project; planning and coordinating the engineering activities on projects or serve as an individual expert, completing broadly defined and/or technically complex engineering assignments
  • Leadership and guidance to a team of technical professionals to deliver to the schedule, fully understand reasons for delay and assist in developing recovery plans.
  • Coordinate activities performed by one or multiple engineering disciplines to support the timely issuing of deliverables to meet project specifications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of work, to the satisfaction of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interface between the Wood and Client engineering teams.
  • Interface and maintain effective communication with all relevant parties including Client, Engineering Discipline Management, Project Team, Suppliers, Contractors, and other 3rd Parties to facilitate resolution of technical decisions, areas of concern, coordination and interfaces
  • Support implementation of change management and alerts senior project personnel in the event of potential risks, delays or changes
  • Prepare procurement or contract scopes of work including technical documents for single or multi-discipline packages, and coordination of evaluations and vendor document reviews.
  • Prepare straightforward project specific procedures with guidance
  • Monitor and support compliance with quality, HSE and assurance standards
  • Ensure the technical quality of work performed is based upon organizational standards, codes and general knowledge of engineering principles and projects
  • Serve as a technical expert, as appropriate
  • Other engineering duties as directed

 






Qualifications





  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology
  • Ability to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in engineering and leadership roles.  EPCM experience is required.
  • Experience with potash, uranium, heavy industrial, mining, metal processing, or similar industrial experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must possess strong team management and organizational skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills

Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
