Recreation Facilities Operator

Position Overview and Requirements

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and the Ice Coordinator, the Facilities Operator is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of recreational facilities and parks to ensure the safety of staff and users. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Perform ice surface maintenance such as ice shaving, edging, and maintaining records of ice depth and leveling.


• Monitor compressor system operations and maintain required logs.


• Perform general housekeeping duties throughout recreation facilities, including painting, minor repairs, and set-up and dismantling of outdoor rinks.


• Perform maintenance duties in parks, baseball diamonds, and play structures, including grass cutting, tree trimming, and litter and garbage removal.


• Responsible for the set-up and tear-down of events, rentals, and programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years related experience considered an asset.


• Knowledge of basic arena refrigeration systems, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, synthetic turf, and hazardous materials considered an asset.


• Experience in customer service.


• Experience coordinating and supervising the operational activities of part-time staff.


• Certifications in Standard First Aid–CPR-C/AED, Basic Arena Refrigeration, Propane Handling, Pool Operator, and WHMIS considered assets.


• Valid Class G Driver’s Licence.


• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.


• Ability to work variable schedules (summer/winter) to meet operational requirements.


• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.

Language Requirements

Proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in both French and English.

Compensation

The salary, based on 40 hours a week, is between $62,491 and $77,905 per year and includes an excellent benefit package, a pension plan, as well as free access to the Sports Dome Training Centre.
