Carecor is looking for dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses (RN) specialized in Medicine/Surgical floor care to join our amazing team working in Greater Toronto Area hospitals. We’re ready when you are! Under the direction of the facility charge nurse, you will provide care according to the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Standards of Practice of Carecor and the healthcare facility where assigned - helping foster an environment of optimal physical, social, and emotional well-being for patients. For each assignment, you will be in one facility for a full 12hour shift.
Summary of Position:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Unit provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, as well as post-operative needs. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to ensure optimal outcomes. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and accurately.
Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Advocate for patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being.
Job Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent from an accredited program
Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Proof of PLP as mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario
Able to work with persons with Infectious diseases
ACLS & BLS Certificate Required
Critical Care Certificate (for ICU applicants)
Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (MMRV); proof of negative TB skin test within 1 year
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit
Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate
Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Other Requirements
Ability to work independently, or as part of a team
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Shift scheduling requirements:
Must be available for “urgent or last minute” shifts, scheduled within 2 hours of shift start time
Must be able to work the flexible shift times, depending on the facility, 8 or 12 hours in length
Must be able to “float” from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need
Must be available to work all shifts which includes days, evenings and nights including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays
Must be in compliance with the Carecor Healthcare shift acceptance/cancellation policy (provided for review upon hiring)
Required to work 2 weekends per month
Must be reliable (once availability is given) to be placed at an agreed upon facility/unit
