THE ROLE:

The Grounds Attendant/Groundskeeper is responsible for providing the most pristine grounds possible. The Groundskeeper will ensure that the property is maintained in the best possible condition, with the least inconvenience to guests.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Must have a good working knowledge and a minimum of 1 year experience in at least one trade.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

• Hand and power tools, tractor, ride on mower, push lawn mower, edger, rakes and other gardening tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Long hours sometimes required.


• Very Heavy work – Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.


• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.


• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.


• Must have ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.


• Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.

OTHER ABILITIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE:

ROLE DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.


• Responsible for planting flower beds, pruning trees and shrubs.


• Maintain walkways and removing debris.


• Responsible for all lawn maintenance care including mowing, watering and raking.


• Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.


• Encourages safety and proper usage of equipment.


• Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.


• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.


• Must be able and willing to paint as needed.


• Other duties as required.
