Security Guard (Overnight) - Toronto

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

POSITION SUMMARY

Job type:  Security/Access Control Guard

Reports to: Site Supervisor/Regional Manager

Anticipated start date: ASAP

Posting Close Date: Until filled

Hourly Rate of Pay:  $26.86/hr (NMSO CM level 1 Use of Force Level III)

Hours of work: 2100-0900 (12 Hours)

Shifts: Continental Shift (7 shifts in a 2 week rotation)

Location: 660 Fleet St, Toronto, Ontario

Accessible by Transit: Yes

Uniform: White Shirt, Cargo pants, black footwear, Use of Force Level III equipment(CM)

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured


• Verify identification and sign in/out visitors as required


• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients


• Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports


• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment


• Maintain effective communication


• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance


• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors


• Regular interior foot patrols


• Make sure the Security Desk is always monitored


• Able to operate a computer with email and Microsoft Office systems


• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• MUST Valid Ontario Security Guard License


• MUST Valid First Aid and CPR certificate


• Mandatory – Must be able to obtain a Level I Reliability Clearance (resident in Canada 5 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)


• Must be able to pass the CGL Use of Force Level III course


• The ability to stand for long periods of time and complete frequent patrols


• Good understanding of computers


• Customer service/reception/administrative skills


• The ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service to the client is essential
