Job Description - Senior Communications Advisor



  • Help young Australians to improve their long-term educational outcomes

  • Flexible work arrangements to give you more balance, including hybrid working

  • Temporary part time position until July 2027, based in Sydney, NSW or Melbourne, VIC


 


 


The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures. 


 


 


About the role


 


We are seeking a Senior Communications Advisor to coordinate communications and brand activity that delivers against project KPIs, supports the annual plan and protects brand standards across all channels. Reporting to the National Manager Communications & Brand and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, you will:


 



  • Bring major communications and brand projects to life across campaigns, publications, webinars and leadership updates

  • Keep multiple moving parts on track by coordinating timelines, stakeholders and delivery from start to finish

  • Create clear, compelling content that strengthens our brand and connects across owned channels

  • Lead high-profile publications and print projects from brief to delivery, partnering with stakeholders and trusted suppliers

  • Help grow our storytelling capability, curate strong content assets and use insights to lift communications impact


 


 


About you


 


As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:


 



  • Proven experience delivering communications and brand activity across multiple channels and projects

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to coordinate work across teams and senior stakeholders

  • Experience creating brand-aligned content, managing suppliers and upholding brand standards

  • A degree in communications, marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Confidence managing multiple priorities, solving problems and working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in internal communications, storytelling or purpose-led organisations will be highly regarded
