Reports to: Director, Compensation & HR Programs

Hours per week: 40

Salary Range: $85.000-$100,000. Exact compensation may vary depending on the individual experience and qualifications of each candidate.  Applicants with greater or less than the minimum qualifications for this posted opportunity may be considered for alternate opportunities.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team of HR professionals as a Senior HR Advisor. Reporting to the Director - Compensation & HR Programs, the Senior HR Advisor will:

• Work with assigned client groups as a strategic partner to provide advice, guidance and interpretation of HR policy, guidelines, procedures, processes and data.


• Conduct full-cycle recruitment for client groups, including:
  
  
  
  • Identifying current and prospective staff requirements.
  
  
  • Preparing and posting job vacancies.
  
  
  • Screening applications and conducting interviews.
  
  
  • Issuing offer letters and conducting reference checks.
  
  
  
  


• Guide managers in collective agreement interpretation and administration including providing coaching on all aspects of union/management relations.


• Deliver HR solutions to meet business requirements including serving as single point of contact for client groups while leveraging internal and external HR expertise.


• Attend client group team meetings.


• Develop and implement policies and act as immigration central point of contact/resource. 


• Conduct employee relations activities such as investigations and conflict management and coaching on performance management and discipline.


• Partner with assigned client groups on workforce management activities to support their staffing and development needs, including recruitment.


• Develop and deliver communications and/or training for managers and employees on HR initiatives.


• Provide support to other functional areas such as compensation, benefits, employment equity and other related HR programs.


• Lead the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures, including managing updates to reflect legislative changes and reporting requirements.


• Act as a mentor to HR Advisors and HR co-op students


• Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

• Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline and 8-10 years’ experience directly related to Human Resources.


• Broad HR experience in a variety of HR disciplines, which may include compensation/reward, organizational development, HR process, policy development, immigration inclusion and diversity, employment law, talent management, performance management, employee relations, and occupational health and safety.


• Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.


• CHRP and/or CHRL designation.


• High level of initiative and problem-solving skills.


• Good written and verbal communication skills.


• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills in order to work co-operatively with employees, management and union representatives.

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
