Within the context of a client/family service culture and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the vision and values of Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, this position assesses, diagnoses and treats the full range of communication and swallowing disorders. Completes client reports, educates clients/family, provides counselling and consultation, and presents lectures. Participates in interdisciplinary team rounds, risk management and research, and provides leadership to new employees and Speech-Language Pathology students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience Current full registration as a Speech Language Pathologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Broad knowledge of evidence based practice. Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care. Broad knowledge of research process and methodology. Basic knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to operate related computer equipment. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload. Demonstrated ability to determine and deal effectively with urgent situations, clients/families/ residents. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations. Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals. Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
