Speech/Language Pathology Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a dynamic client and family centred care model and in accordance with the established mission, vision, values and objectives of the organization, works under the general operational supervision of the Patient Services Manager, clinical supervision from the Practice Coordinator and receives work direction from Speech/Language Pathologists in a team based environment and assists designated patients with rehabilitation treatment programs designed to improve the client’s communication and swallowing skills. Assists with patient treatments, administers routine procedures, documents client’s progress, prepares appropriate patient materials/activities, maintains therapy equipment and an inventory of supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience
Completion of a Speech/Language Pathology Assistant Program plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to teach.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
