This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to play a critical role in shaping product design, engineering execution, and cross\-functional collaboration within a growing solar technology environment.
The Senior Manager of Engineering â Solar PV Mounting Systems is responsible for leading and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting all solar racking and PV mounting solutions, from proposal and detailed design through fabrication and production release.
This role provides technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensures compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements, and acts as a subject matter expert in solar PV mounting systems, structural design, and applicable codes. The position works closely with CAD, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and external partners while driving continuous improvement in product design, processes, and delivery.
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams supporting PV mounting systems and solar racking solutions.
Ensure Lead Engineers, Structural Leads, Design Leads, and Layout Leads adhere to established engineering processes, quality standards, and best practices.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee engineering calculations and analyses, including FEA\-based structural assessments.
Ensure designs comply with applicable local codes, regulatory requirements, UL standards, and industry best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert for solar PV mounting codes and standards across operating regions.
Review and approve engineering documentation prior to system release.
Establish and maintain project plans, including scope definition, risk identification, milestones, and execution oversight.
Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring coordination between design, fabrication, and production while maintaining schedule and budget targets.
Maintain accurate and current project status tracking and reporting.
Oversee CAD drawings and layouts for proposals and construction plan sets.
Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to release materials for production.
Partner with Supply Chain to support production schedules and manage vendor interactions.
Work closely with Sales and Engineering teams to align technical solutions with client expectations.
Provide technical guidance and expert support to internal and external stakeholders.
Advise on project development processes, constructability, and installation methodologies.
Coordinate with third\-party testing and certification bodies to ensure products meet UL and other certification requirements.
Ensure projects are designed and executed in accordance with regulatory codes, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, operational procedures, and Health & Safety programs.
Promote and enforce safety standards across all assigned areas.
Identify and recommend improvements to product design, engineering workflows, and deployment strategies.
Support long\-term product roadmap planning and innovation initiatives.
Perform other related duties as required.
Required:
Bachelorâs degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada (Ontario preferred).
10â15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
Proven experience with solar PV mounting systems, structural steel systems, or engineered construction products.
Strong background in FEA\-based design and structural calculations.
Demonstrated success managing multi\-disciplinary engineering teams.
In\-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CSA, UL, IBC/ASCE, and local AHJs).
Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
Preferred / Considered an Asset:
Experience in manufacturing\-driven or product\-based engineering environments.
Familiarity with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
Experience working with third\-party testing and certification bodies.
Exposure to North American solar markets (Canada and U.S.).
