Store Associate-Sushi Outlets (Work in Loblaws)

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Kitchen Deli Department Head (Sushi Outlet) or his/her delegate, the Sushi Outlet Production Assistant is responsible to make, fry, cut, pack, weigh, label and prepare various food products for the Sushi Outlet (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) in advance for customer to choose from as well as to prepare appropriate type and quantity of food items based on orders received. The position also needs to stock products onto the display cases in the sales area and display cooler, provide good customer service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness.

Vacancies: Store Associate

1. Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, friendly enthusiasm; answer customers’ enquiries


2. Assist customers in selecting food products (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) and provide recommendations to them


3. Control product (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) quality, freshness, inventory level and wastage


4. Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department


5. Responsible to make, fry, cut, pack, weigh, label and prepare various food products (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) for customers to select, label them properly and display them in the display cases


6. Maintain workplace cleanliness by washing and maintain relevant work tools clean and well-kept, ensure workplace safety


7. Keep product display full, attractive and neat, timely replenish inventory, if necessary


8. Follow procedures to verify and process expired food products and manage shrinkage


9. Receive products delivered, take customers’ orders


10. Ensure daily sales and other checklists are properly completed


11. Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:                                            

1. Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays


2. Be prepared to stand long time and to hands on dealing with products and lifting of products of 50 pounds on a regular basis; able to use working related tools in a safe manner


3. Be prepared to work in low temperature (0-4 ℃) environment regularly


4. Not allergic in handling produce products


5. Able to communicate in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) an asset


6. Knowledge of basic work safety


7. Relevant experience in handling produce products is preferred
