Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity? We are currently seeking a Structural Technician to join our Track and Structures team!
Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Structure Inspection, this position is responsible for providing technical assistance and support in the inspection and maintenance of existing tunnels, bridges, and structures used for rail vehicle operations. As a Structural Technician, you will assist with the preparation of inspection forms, support field inspection activities, process and organize inspection data, produce CADD drawings for inspection and repair work, and enter and manage inspection information within computerized databases and spreadsheets. You will also support the preparation, coordination, and administration of design packages for repair and maintenance projects as directed.
As a Structural Technician, you will collect base structure inventory data such as structure type, location, dimensions, and key details from drawings, reports, and specifications, and enter this information into designated forms. You will also process field inspection data gathered from notes, sketches, and dictation, and manage this information within spreadsheets and databases. In addition, you will organize inspection photographs by preparing complete photo sheets and producing both manual and CAD sketches and drawings.
You will support fieldwork by assisting inspectors and engineers with tasks such as taking photographs, making notes or sketches, operating inspection equipment, and helping with other site inspection activities.
Finally, you will also assist with preparing manuals, reports, repair designs, and tender packages. This includes producing manual or CAD drawings for maintenance work, researching reference drawings for structural details, and reviewing consultant reports and contractor shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards.
