Position Summary


Reporting to the Manager, Student Engagement, Health Promotion & Sport, the Student Engagement, Health Promotion & Sport Assistant provides comprehensive administrative, clerical, and operational support for student life, peer support, orientation, recreation, and sport-related programs and initiatives. The role supports the planning, promotion, coordination, and delivery activities of the department, while ensuring effective facility use, accurate records management, and a high standard of student service.


Function & Duties


Administrative Support



  1. Provides clerical and administrative support for departmental operations.

  2. Drafts, assembles, and maintains departmental reports, statistics, registrations, and records.

  3. Creates and maintains forms, templates, manuals, and bring-forward systems.

  4. Responds to in-person, telephone, and digital inquiries.

  5. Maintains departmental databases.


Program, Event & Student Life Support



  1. Assists with planning, coordination, promotion, and delivery of programs and events.

  2. Coordinates venue bookings, IT/AV requests, food services, licensing, and logistics.

  3. Represents Student Life at orientations, open houses, and transition activities.

  4. Supports orientation and student transition initiatives.

  5. Supports presentations and information sessions.


  Student Employee Support (Non-Supervisory)



  1. Assists with recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling.

  2. Provides functional guidance.

  3. Reviews timesheets.


Other



  1. Performs other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience


Graduation from a two-year Recreation diploma or related program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to four years of related experience in athletics, recreation, student life, or facility operations.


Skills & Abilities



  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, web editing, social media platforms

  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to manage web content and other digital communication channels (e.g., social media)

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with equipment setup and teardown
