Supervisor/ Foreman

Option Excavating Inc. is a locally owned, full-service underground infrastructure installation company specializing in the installation of water mains, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer systems, and related services. We proudly serve the municipal public works, petroleum, commercial, residential, gas, and industrial sectors.

We are currently seeking an experienced Foreman to join our growing team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, coordinating crews and equipment, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

Position Summary

The Foreman will provide on-site leadership for underground utility construction projects, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of underground utility installation, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to lead crews in a safe and productive manner.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate field crews on underground utility projects.


• Plan daily work activities and ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials.


• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and grade information.


• Oversee installation of water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and related underground infrastructure.


• Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications.


• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and procedures.


• Coordinate with Project Managers, inspectors, utility providers, and subcontractors.


• Monitor project progress and identify solutions to field challenges.


• Complete daily reports, production tracking, and site documentation.


• Train, mentor, and develop crew members.


• Perform quality control inspections and ensure work meets municipal and industry standards.


• Promote a positive and professional work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in underground utility construction.


• Previous Foreman or supervisory experience preferred.


• Strong knowledge of water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and underground utility installation methods.


• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.


• Experience operating or supervising heavy equipment operations is considered an asset.


• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.


• Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).


• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
