Supervisor, Womens Outreach, Vancouver (Permanent, Full-Time)

The Supervisor, Women’s Outreach provides leadership and oversight to the Women’s Outreach team at UGM, supporting staff in building meaningful relationships and providing compassionate, effective care to women in the community. This role focuses on fostering a healthy, collaborative team culture while ensuring outreach services are delivered with dignity, respect, and consistency.

Responsibilities include providing day-to-day leadership to the outreach team, supporting staff, volunteers, and practicum students, and overseeing community-based programs and services, including food bank support. The Supervisor will help ensure women are connected to practical resources, community supports, and other services based on their individual needs.

Working closely with the Manager, Community Services, the Supervisor will contribute to outreach initiatives, build relationships with internal and external partners, and support effective service delivery. The role also provides spiritual mentorship and models Christlike leadership, ensuring that outreach practices align with UGM’s mission, vision, and core values.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time Position (37.5 hours per week). Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm. The starting wage range for this position is $31.92 to $34.88 per hour.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Model Christ in word and deed.


• 30%- Partner with Community Services leadership in providing branch direction, overseeing operations, collaborative problem-solving, handling complex and difficult issues with team members or community members, and ensuring timely follow-up on action items. In collaboration with the Manager of Community Services, develop and implement a vision for Outreach, including Community walks and Program development.


• 20%- Hire, orient, and train outreach team members, volunteers, and practicum students. Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and regular performance feedback. Foster an environment of growth and development by coaching and encouraging team members to meet their full potential.


• 10%- Provide spiritual leadership by regularly participating in chapel services and overseeing prayer times as well as offering pastoral care, prayer and spiritual direction to team members and community members


• 10% - Review and report on KPIs, prepare and contribute to reports, and ensure all community member documentation is done accurately and appropriately


• 10% - Support general administrative duties, including managing activities at the centre and coordinating major meals and events to ensure they align with program objectives and the needs of the community.


• 10% - Network and collaborate with internal and external partners


• 5% - Plan and participate in staff meetings, training and development opportunities to foster continuous learning and growth within the team.


• 5% - Arrange and oversee practicum student and volunteer placements on the Outreach team.


• Adhere to all UGM-published policies and emergency procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety and ensure a safe environment for team members and community members.

KSA’s

• Mature individual, committed to UGM’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Statement of Faith.


• Personal knowledge and experience of the saving work of Jesus Christ.


• Bachelor’s degree in social services, Theology or Christian Studies (master's level an asset)


• 3+ years of experience in a mission-oriented, faith-based organization (or related field) required.


• Proven leadership abilities with experience in supervising and motivating a team effectively.


• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and externally.


• Experience working with marginalized and vulnerable populations and a passion for serving the Community.


• Excellent time management and administrative skills.


• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive matters and demonstrate ethical decision-making.


• Valid Class 5 driver’s license required.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and able to adapt to new technologies.


• Self-motivated and disciplined, able to work independently and take initiative.


• Ability to handle crises and emergencies with professionalism and sensitivity.


• First Aid Certification, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and Trauma-Informed Care Training are assets for this role

Working Conditions

• Work Location

Work is generally performed indoors, with up to 30% of the time spent outdoors in all types of weather.

• Physical Requirements

Duties require extended periods of standing and/ or walking. Duties require occasional periods of climbing, pulling/pushing items, lifting/carrying items, keyboarding, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees are required to look at a computer screen for up to 50% of the time. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.

• Work Conditions

The working environment is generally favourable. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is performed amid normal conditions of dust, odours, fumes, and noises. Regular environmental exposure to cold, heat, and water. This position requires working in an environment that often deals with clients in crisis situations brought about by diverse problems. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing multiple concurrent tasks, including emergency situations, is an ongoing expectation of this position.

• Hours of Work

Some work on scheduled days off may be required. Moderate overtime may be required. Work on statutory holidays is required. At least one evening shift is required weekly. Some weekend shifts will be required.

Job requires frequent interaction with the public some of whom may be upset, abusive, and/or violent. Job requires working frequently with people in unhealthy conditions and may include exposure to bodily fluids, lice, bedbugs, and other pests. The employee is required to hear information about clients’ lives, which may be troubling or upsetting and may cause emotional issues, including vicarious trauma.
