Technical Area Coordinator - Source Emissions Testing

Your Opportunity

We have an immediate opening for a Technical Area Coordinator to support our Source Emissions Testing team within Environmental Services. The role would be located in Fredericton, NB.

Stantec’s Atmospheric Environment group supports clients across Atlantic Canada and beyond with specialized air quality services, including source emissions testing, ambient monitoring, permitting support, compliance assessments, technical reporting, predictive modelling, greenhouse gas services, and related environmental field programs. The Source Emissions Testing team delivers technically rigorous field programs at industrial facilities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, client service, and practical execution. We are looking for an organized, proactive, and technically minded leader to help plan and manage projects, coordinate staff and equipment schedules, support data analysis and reporting, and provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship, and performance support for direct reports within a growing technical team.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage source emissions testing projects from initiation through field execution, data review, reporting, and closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations


• Develop and coordinate project and team schedules, including field crew assignments, travel planning, project priorities, equipment logistics, and adjustments required by client needs or site conditions


• Supervise and develop assigned staff, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, workload planning, training, and career development support


• Coordinate and oversee field programs to ensure work is completed safely, professionally, consistently, and in accordance with applicable methods, client requirements, and Stantec procedures


• Review field documentation and technical deliverables to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality, including equipment records, data packages, and supporting information


• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, facility representatives, contractors, subcontractors, and internal project teams throughout project delivery, while supporting proposals, cost estimates, technical reports, and other project delivery activities


• Drive continuous improvement within the Source Emissions Testing team, including training, procedures, equipment systems, workflows, and quality processes

• Practical understanding of source emissions testing, stack testing methods, industrial field work, and related equipment would be considered a strong asset


• Ability to plan field work logistics, including staffing, travel, site access, equipment needs, subcontractor support, and schedule changes


• Mechanical aptitude and comfort supporting equipment preparation, basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to complete, accurate documentation


• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications; experience with scheduling, tracking, or project management tools would be an asset


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to a multi-disciplinary team


• Valid safety certificates such as First Aid, fall protection awareness, H2S Alive, aerial lift training, or other field safety training would be considered assets


• A valid driver’s license is required; experience hauling trailers or coordinating field equipment mobilization would be considered an asset

Education and Experience

Diploma or degree in environmental technology, chemical technology, mechanical technology, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 5 years of related experience in environmental consulting, source emissions testing, industrial field services, project coordination, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience coordinating field teams, equipment, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client communication would be considered an asset.

Experience in source emissions testing, air quality monitoring, industrial compliance testing, or related environmental field work would be considered a strong asset.

Project management training, safety leadership training, supervisory experience, or experience with direct reports would be considered an asset.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
