  • ACCOUNTABILITY:


Executive Director, Pavilion Women’s Centre (Committee Chair)



  • POSITION SUMMARY:


    • Salary Range: As per the agency’s salary grid.




 




  • Part-time, up to 12 hours per week (24 hours per pay period). This position is hosted by Pavilion Women’s Centre, the lead agency for the TDVAWCC.


 




  • The TDVAWCC Coordinator is a dynamic employee who ensures the coordination of committee activities, including a variety of operational and administrative tasks related to the daily functions of the Temiskaming District Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee.


                                               



  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Direct Service:

      • Provide administrative support to the TDVAWCC and its sub-committees, including minutes, ministry reporting, statistics, and meeting facilitation

      • Maintain financial records and collaborate with the Finance Manager at the funding lead agency (Pavilion Women’s Centre)

      • Identify and comprehend the diverse obstacles that prevent women and their children from accessing services

      • Serve as a designated media contact, alongside the Committee Chair, for TDVAWCC-related activities

      • Promote the work of the TDVAWCC through community outreach and education activities

      • Create presentations, media releases and committee documents

      • Protect confidentiality

      • Provide support to other programs as needed






 




  • Community Development/Education:

    • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with local organizations and community agencies

    • Develop and maintain contacts with key people in community agencies offering services to women and children locally, regionally, provincially and nationally

    • Work efficiently with Temiskaming’s community agencies and resources that support women and their children

    • Oversee public education resources and activities of the TDVAWCC and its sub-committees




 




  • Administrative Support:

    • Maintain required documentation, including statistics and reports required by funders.

    • Maintain ongoing work for use and modification on future initiatives

    • Participate in ongoing program evaluation




 




  • Human Resources:

    • Participate actively in staff meetings and supervision sessions with the Executive Director  

    • Communicate concerns, issues, and problems affecting job performance and program quality to the Executive Director  




 



  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field

    • Understanding of the social service sector and the provision of non-profit services to the community

    • Proven dedication to violence against women work and women’s issues, with experience working on issues of marginalization and social justice

    • Valid Ontario driver’s license or transportation to perform the duties of the role.

    • Vulnerable Sector Check that is satisfactory to the agency.

    • Bilingual French/English preferred

    • Knowledge of the community and surrounding area

    • Ability to work within an anti-oppression framework and demonstrate cultural and linguistic sensitivity with respect to Indigenous and Francophone communities.

    • Proficient in group facilitation

    • Able to manage technical resources including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Canva and agency-specific software packages.




 



  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to sit for long periods

    • Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand

    • Ability to understand the speech of another person

    • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away

    • Lifting and carrying items

    • High concentration levels




 



  • WORK CONDITIONS:

    • Mainly indoor in an office environment, with regular travel for committee meetings and community events

    • Hosted at Pavilion Women’s Centre, working in collaboration with TDVAWCC member agencies across the district

    • Exposure to traumatic stories and sensitive subject matter

    • Flexible schedule, with hours scheduled to accommodate committee meetings and community events

    • Interruption level is moderate

    • Regular travel within the district and occasional travel outside the district is required.

    • Respects the lines of communication the agency has adopted

    • Respects the strategic plans and direction of Pavilion Women’s Centre and the mandate and intervention models of TDVAWCC member agencies
