This a temporary position. It will end around May 2027.
Reporting to the HSE Manager, and indirectly to the site leader, coordinates with HSE leads and other departments to this temporary role will focus on strengthening HSE systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting operational safety initiatives.
•Coordinating with site leader/HSE Manager and other departments to ensure legal compliance and employee safety and health. A strong focus on ensuring Legal and Smiths standard compliance at assigned sites. Support implementation and maintain sites legal registrar and compliance calendar. Manage site-specific program for applicable permits, licenses & regulatory reporting.
•Support the HSE document management though reviewing and making changes to documentation to meet current legal and company requirements.
•Support multiple sites in managing the risk registrar. Develop new risk assessments, review and update existing risk assessments. Facilitate and deliver training on risk assessment process and develop standard operating procedures from the activity risk assessment.
•Act as a support member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Coordinate and document meetings, track and support completion of action items and ensure proper posting and communication of meeting minutes. Support the completion of audits and inspections to maintain safe working conditions.
•Support sites in incident management including incident investigation and creating actions.
•Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
•Person will primarily support the Stoney Creek location, while implementing similar deliverables to Alberta and Quebec remotely.
•HSE Data Collection and Validation
•Conducting HSE internal audits & completion of HSE related action.
•Implementing HSE programs, managing legal compliance and supporting Joint Health and Safety Committee.
•Managing and Implementing risk assessments.
•High School Diploma with relevant experience. Degree preferred.
•1 to 2 years of HSE experience plus a strong working knowledge of HSE regulations and requirements.
•Demonstrated skills must include written and verbal communication, creative problem-solver, process improvement, conflict resolution and change management.
•Strong organizational and time management skills
Fluent in English Language

Work environment is typically considered within a Smiths location during normal or extended business hours to include offices, manufacturing plants and repair facilities. Work environment may also include customer sites (including production facilities) and meeting venues.
