About the Role
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for supporting the care and maintenance of the Mount Nansen mine site, including the operation of a water treatment facility and general care and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the operation of a water treatment facility which includes the operation and maintenance of pumps, hoses, air compressor, clarifiers, agitators, pipelines, etc.
- Monitor and maintain various water treatment equipment including influent ponds/pipelines, lime/caustic precipitation reactor, lamella clarifier, sludge collection and dewatering, and all related processes.
- Optimize plant performance and troubleshoot upset conditions.
- Perform plant quality control tasks including manual process parameters (pH, Turbidity, Density, etc) and prepare water samples for transport and analysis
- Support plant process improvement test work and maintenance activities
- Support general care and maintenance activities on site including maintenance of site pumps, distribution systems (water, electrical and fuel), communication systems, buildings, and roadways.
- Maintain all on-site equipment in good and safe working order by performing regular inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure the cleanliness/safety of the site.
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly sampling, inspections and monitoring of tailings area, ponds, and water from various sources at site.
- Prepare daily/monthly/quarterly summary reports of site operation.
- Periodic inspections of heavy equipment and water treatment systems to monitor proper performance of operations.
- Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents.
- All other duties as required.
About You
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience operating water treatment plants.
- Is in good physical health, able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, stand/bend/stoop for long periods of time, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Is in possession of a current Driver’s License, and able to drive to job site.
- Previous experience operating hand tools, small machinery, and other necessary equipment.
