Job Description - Woodlands Operations Supervisor

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Blue Ridge Lumber (BRL) is currently recruiting for a Woodlands Operations Supervisor.


Reporting to the Woodlands Operations Superintendent, the Woodlands Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day harvesting operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of operational plans while supporting West Fraser’s commitment to sustainable forest management.


You'll Do:



  • Lead and supervise logging contractors and field operations to safely achieve production targets

  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, environmental requirements, and provincial forest regulations

  • Monitor harvesting, road building, and hauling activities to ensure operational efficiency and cost control

  • Coordinate daily and weekly operating plans with contractors and internal partners

  • Identify and resolve operational challenges in the field in a timely and effective manner

  • Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, First Nations, stakeholders, and internal teams

  • Participate fully in West Fraser’s Safety Management System to support an injury-free workplace

  • Support reporting requirements, operational tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives


You Have:



  • Diploma or degree in Forestry or a related discipline

  • Several years of experience in woodlands or harvesting operations

  • A registered Professional Forester (RPF) of Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation in Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation)

  • Strong leadership and contractor management experience

  • Working knowledge of Alberta forest practices, regulations, and safety standards

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications; experience with forestry systems is an asset

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Blue Ridge Lumber (BRL) is located in Blue Ridge, Alberta. This role is field-based and requires regular travel within the operating area.
