Are you passionate about leveraging technology and data to improve municipal operations? As the Work Order Management Technologist, you'll play a key role in supporting Transportation Operations by overseeing and enhancing the systems that help keep our roads, trails, and infrastructure running safely and efficiently. From optimizing work order and asset management processes to ensuring high-quality data, system performance, and user adoption, you'll be the go-to expert driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our Transportation Engineering and Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize the department's work order and asset management systems to support transportation operations and service delivery
  • Configure and enhance system workflows, processes, and functionality to improve efficiency, data quality, and operational performance
  • Provide technical expertise, user support, troubleshooting, and training to ensure effective system adoption and utilization across the department
  • Oversee system administration activities, including security, user access, upgrades, testing, data migration, and ongoing maintenance
  • Establish and maintain data governance standards, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of asset and work order information
  • Analyze business needs and develop system-based solutions, integrations, and automations that support operational and strategic objectives
  • Develop reports, forecasts, and analytical insights to support asset lifecycle management, operational planning, budgeting, and decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, Information Technology Services, and external vendors to resolve issues, implement enhancements, and deliver continuous improvements
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead initiatives that enhance asset management practices, system capabilities, and department performance
     

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Systems Technology, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in asset management, infrastructure, engineering, or system-based technical environments
  • Experience administering and optimizing asset management, work order management, or maintenance management systems
  • Strong understanding of asset management principles, maintenance best practices, and asset lifecycle planning
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, solve problems, and develop practical solutions that improve business processes and system performance
  • Proficiency with GIS applications, Microsoft 365 tools, and other asset, maintenance, or enterprise management systems
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, lead initiatives, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Experience using asset and operational data to support decision-making, infrastructure planning, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives
     

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
