Eligibility
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection status (international students are not eligible)
Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Position Overview
Guelph Community Health Centre is seeking a creative, motivated, and organized Communications Assistant to support agency-wide communications projects over the summer. This role is ideal for a self-starter with an interest or experience in design, writing, social media, digital communications, or branding, and a passion for health equity and community impact.
Working closely with the Communications Coordinator and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Communications Assistant will play a key role in implementing GCHC’s new brand across platforms, supporting the launch of a new website, and contributing to accessible, engaging communications that reflect our mission, vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant will support a variety of communications initiatives, including but not limited to:
Assisting with the implementation of GCHC’s new brand across digital and print materials
Supporting staff and teams with the internal transition to new brand assets and guidelines
Assisting with internal brand launch activities
Updating and scheduling social media content in alignment with the new brand and streamlined social media policies
Supporting the development and launch of Guelph Community Health Centre’s new website as part of the website project team
Assisting with content creation, including writing, basic graphic design, photography, and simple video content
Supporting website updates and content organization
Supporting the development of the internal and external newsletters and monthly calendar
Assisting with administrative and coordination tasks related to communications projects
Providing general communications support to various internal teams, as needed
Qualifications & Skills
Strong interest in communications, design, marketing, media, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Eye for design and strong attention to detail
Comfortable using design and digital tools such as Canva and Meta Business Suite (experience with website platforms is an asset)
Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team
Able to work in a hybrid environment (both in-person and remotely)
Passion for health equity, social justice, and community wellbeing
Previous coursework, volunteer experience, or work experience in communications, marketing, design, media, or nonprofit work is considered an asset.
