BGC Weston Mount Dennis Club serves children and youth in the Weston Mount Dennis and surrounding communities. We provide social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs that foster growth, confidence, and belonging.
Program Description
Our Summer Camp program is designed for children ages 6–12. Programming includes education, recreation, social activities, sports, health and nutrition, mentoring, and the arts.
As a Junior Camp Mentor, you will play an important role in creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment while leading activities and building positive relationships with participants.

Position Overview
The Junior Camp Mentor works directly with children in a group setting, leading activities and supporting the daily operations of the camp program. This role is ideal for individuals who are energetic, responsible, and passionate about working with children and youth.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and lead activities for a group of children
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants
Facilitate fun, creative, and age-appropriate programming
Support the development of programs for children ages 6–12
Ensure all equipment and supplies are safe and in good working condition
Maintain accurate attendance, headcounts, and required documentation
Ensure programs are inclusive, non-competitive, and developmentally appropriate
Supervise participants at all times, following all safety guidelines and procedures
Address conflicts and behaviours using positive behaviour management strategies
Assist in responding to incidents in accordance with Club policies and procedures
Participate in all staff training and orientation sessions
Report to and take direction from the Program Manager and Supervisors
Maintain professional relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and participants
Attend scheduled meetings and team briefings
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to each scheduled shift
Qualifications
Experience working with children ages 6–12 ()
Strong interest in recreation, education, or child and youth programming
Skills in areas such as sports, arts, recreation, education, or health & nutrition
Strong supervision, organization, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
Current First Aid & CPR (mandatory)
Police Reference Check within the last 6 months (required prior to start date)
HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development (asset)
Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Requirements)
Applicants must:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person
Be legally entitled to work in Canada International students are not eligible.
Contract Details
Contract Period: June 22, 2026 – August 14, 2026
Mandatory Training: June 22 – June 26, 2026 (attendance required)
Hours: 35–37.5 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday (5 days/week – mandatory)
