Job Description 

Resident Programs Aide– Extendicare

As a valued member of our recreation team, you will assume ultimate responsibility for providing high quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

This position is for our Extendicare Oshawa, located at 82 Park Road North.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.

What you bring:

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services /Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired.
