Do you have a passion for biotechnology and laboratory automation and want to participate in the development of biological solutions for a more sustainable world? If so, you could be our next colleague in Production Strain Automation & Analytics department within Production Strain Technology (PST) area in R&D.
As a Laboratory Automation Scientist, you will participate in designing, implementing, and executing automated methods in our Production Strain research laboratories in Lyngby and Bagsværd. You will also ensure that automated data flows into our laboratory information systems can be efficiently analyzed.
Welcome to Production Strain Technology in Enzyme, Protein, and Strain Engineering Research
In Enzyme, Protein and Strain Engineering Research we use industrial microbes and engineer these to bring Biological Solutions to our customers' toughest problems in e.g. biofuels, agriculture, food & beverage. PST uses state-of-the-art genetic engineering and fermentation technologies to deliver high-performing production strains.
You will join the automation team in Production Strain Automation & Analytics department, where we deploy lab automation solutions for building, testing & understanding the performance of bacterial and fungal production strains at low, medium, and high throughputs.
In this role you’ll make an impact by being part of a team involved in:
Developing & executing automated methods for strain construction, cultivation and assay protocols for high-throughput construction and screening of bacterial and fungal recombinant strains.
Keeping our fleet of liquid handlers and other laboratory robotics maintained and troubleshoot problems if they appear
Helping to shape the lab automation strategy
Using laboratory data information systems (e.g. Benchling or others) to capture data and track lab processes
Using and script methods for automated capture, processing, and analysis of laboratory datasets.
Being able to work in a team with multiple competencies and manage stakeholder relationships
Connect with and co-develop methods with other Novonesis lab automation experts around the globe and share best practices.
To succeed in this position, you must have:
A degree in biological science, engineering, or chemistry at B.Sc., M.Sc. or PhD level.
5+ years of hands-on experience in translating strain engineering, synthetic biology or chemistry methods into automated processes using liquid handlers and other laboratory automation equipment.
You must be comfortable developing new methods, not just using existing ones.
A detail-oriented and self-driven attitude to conduct hands-on experiments in the laboratory.
Being a team player with a strong drive and experience in communicating and supporting colleagues in using automated platforms
Additional experience that will be an advantage:
Experience with developing automation methods for Hamilton, Beckman Coulter, or Echo Acoustic Liquid handlers.
Experience with Hamilton Venus software and HSL
Experience developing automated methods for NGS sequencing workflow.
Experience developing automated methods for MTP (small scale) fermentation and screening.
Demonstrated proficiency developing scripts (Python, R, JMP or other) and processes for data capture, processing, and analysis of large datasets with statistical mindset.
Prior experience using laboratory information software including Benchling
Location: This job will be located in both Bagsværd and Lyngby, Denmark.
