At Arla Foods Ingredients, we are looking for a Nutrition Scientist to become our specialist at the interface of nutrition and immunology. You will and drive our scientific understanding area of how nutrition in the form of dairy- based ingredients, can support immune development and functionality across life stages. The ideal candidate combines immunological expertise with strategic and commercial thinking to generate evidence, guide research direction that create value for customers and the business across early life and specialized nutrition.

How you will make an impact

As Nutrition Scientist, you will be part of the Commercial Nutrition Science department, which generates scientific evidence to support and develop our business mainly within early life and medical nutrition. This is a strategic and network-oriented role focused on shaping research at the intersection of nutrition towards immune development and functionality. You will drive scientific projects with external collaborations that investigate how nutritional interventions linked to dairy-based ingredients influence immune maturation, regulation and response, and translate these insights into business-relevant evidence and communication. You will work across scientific, commercial and customer-facing functions and collaborate with leading researchers, customers and other external partners.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Set the scientific direction for understanding how nutrition influences immune development and functionality immunology across life stages and selected populations, keeping up to date with developments in the field and translating scientific insights into strategic scientific recommendations and new research opportunities.


• Develop and independently manage a portfolio of nutrition and immune- related pre-clinical and clinical nutrition science projects that generates evidence on how specific dairy derived ingredients affect immune development, regulation and functionality in relevant populations, while addressing customer needs within a commercial relevant context.


• Build, maintain and activate a strong external scientific network, including leading researchers, academic institutions, healthcare professionals, industry peers and strategic customers.


• Translate complex scientific evidence into clear and credible communication for specialist audiences, customers, sales colleagues and other non-specialist stakeholders internally and externally.


• Connect science with business opportunities by supporting product development and substantiation, addressing customer enquiries, assessing competing solutions and contributing scientific insight to commercial and marketing activities.

What will make you successful

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in immunology, nutritional immunology or a closely related scientific field and substantial expertise in immune development and functionality. You understand how nutrition can modulate immune maturation, regulation and response, and can apply this knowledge when defining research questions and interpreting evidence. You have experience leading scientific projects end-to-end, building external collaborations and communicating complex science to both specialists and business stakeholders. Industry experience is preferred, but strong candidates from academia with a commercial mindset are also encouraged to apply.
