Job Description - Scientists & Lab Technicians for Group R&D, Denmark

We are developing sustainable and differentiated coating solutions to meet market demands now and in the future

At Hempel, we have set ambitious targets to double Hempel. Moreover, we have ambitious sustainability goals and in order to meet those targets we need to develop coatings solutions with increased durability, differentiated value drivers and strong focus on improved sustainability profiles

We are therefore looking for Scientists and Lab Technicians on an ongoing basis to join various R&D departments within Product Development and Technology Innovation groups based in HQ R&D office, Kongens Lyngby, Denmark.

Here’s some of the other things you can look forward to:

As Scientists:

  • Design, plan, execute and report product development and research projects using existing and/or new knowledge
  • Perform all required research and experimental work in the lab in order to meet the objectives of the projects
  • Communicate new learnings and knowledge generated in research projects both in verbal and written format
  • Follow all guidelines and Group procedures regarding Health, Safety and Environment
  • Ensure that high standards of safety and 6S are maintained in Hempel facilities

As Lab Technician:

  • Support scientists in research and development projects in the area of protective coatings solutions
  • Prepare experimental paints and test specimens
  • Evaluate current and experimental coating systems according to agreed methods, standards and customer specifications
  • Responsible of paint application with specialised equipment, such as airless spray
  • Keep accurate and complete records and produce quality reports of your laboratory activity

The successful candidates

We appreciate  collaboration which  is skill  that comes easy to you both with colleagues internally, as well as with external partners. You bring a  positive attitude and genuine care for the people around you without losing the focus on the end goal of our projects.

General qualifications and experience for Scientists:

  • Experience working in a laboratory is essential
  • University degree in technical studies
  • Technical project management skills and experience working with research and development projects would be an advantage
  • Solid English skills both verbal and written
  • Able to adapt within a multi-cultural environment

General qualifications and experience for Lab Technicians:

  • In this role we expect you to have an education as laboratory technician or equivalent studies.
  • You possess strong hands-on and quality-orientation in the laboratory and have the ability to plan and organise your tasks independently.
  • You have effective communication skills and are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Preferably you have experience working in a coating laboratory, though this is not a requirement.
