A prerequisite for applying to this internship is that you are an engineering student enrolled at a Danish university and pursuing a master’s degree at the time of the internship.
Working at a modern high-tech factory requires a diverse range of talents, these include but are not limited to, mechanical engineers, material and process specialists, data scientists, robotics wizards and many more.
The practicalities
The internship is paid and runs from February 1 to June 16, 2027. You will join a group of 10 interns and follow a four-day workweek (10 hours per day), giving you three days off each week.
With the internship being based in the US, you are of course fully proficient in English, both oral and written. You will be exposed to the international culture of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.
Working within the security industry, it is also important that you have a sound understanding of the importance of company procedures and when to ask before acting.
To experience one of the most advanced production lines in the aerospace industry, you will learn from the best as you participate in projects, interact with mechanics and fellow engineers, and interact directly with the aircraft.
Two types of internships at Lockheed Martin
We offer two different internship opportunities at Lockheed Martin as part of this program. When applying, please indicate which internship you are most interested in and qualified for.
Option 1: AI & Data Science internship
In this internship, you will join an Aero Ops AI Team and work at the intersection of Data Science, AI/ML Engineering, and Computer Science. You will develop, train, and deploy AI solutions across areas such as computer vision, large language models, and robotic systems - supporting the transformation of the F-35 production environment.
Together with your team, you will contribute to projects focused on implementing autonomous and intelligent solutions on the production floor. This role offers hands-on experience with advanced technologies, where you collaborate across disciplines to turn operational needs into real-world AI applications.
Your tasks may include the following:
Excellent communication skills, motivation, and a team-oriented attitude are all requirements in this position since you will be working with the different teams to investigate their specific needs and translate these into requirements for the various opportunities.
Option 2: Quality Engineering internship
Put your analytical engineering skills to the test in the Quality Engineering (Wing Assembly) or Quality Engineering (Final Assembly) department. You will support quality improvement projects across F-35 production areas, working closely with Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and Manufacturing teams on the shop floor. You will analyze production data, uncover root causes, perform in-process inspections, and help implement corrective actions to ensure compliance and reduce defects.
Throughout the internship, you will collaborate across disciplines, evaluate process and product performance, and contribute to making production data more accessible. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience with the aircraft and present your results to senior leadership - working directly on the future fighter jet of the Royal Danish Air Force.
Your tasks may include the following:
