If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.

Job Summary

We are developing and building our first datacenter in Koria, Kouvola, in partnership with Hyperco, initial phases planned to be commissioned by the end of 2026. This is a unique opportunity to join the team at an early stage, working on a mission-critical facility developed through joint venture that combines strong local expertise with a global hyperscale platform.

As an Assistant Facilities Engineer you will support the Critical Services and Building Services teams responsible for the continuous and efficient operation of mechanical, electrical, fire, and building services systems, upholding high standards of safety and compliance.

You will gain comprehensive exposure to the full range of data centre operations and maintenance management. This role serves as the entry point to a long-term career in the data centre industry.

You will assist in leading a team of shift engineers and technicians, ensuring the delivery of critical mechanical services 24/7. The candidate will be placed under a training programme to develop a well-rounded understanding of all operational aspects.

Key Responsibilities

Critical System Management

  • Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of all MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) systems within the data centres.
  • Ensure all MEP infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and fire suppression systems, and security systems operate reliably and efficiently.
  • Implement and maintain safety policies, procedures, and best practices.

Team collaboration

  • Coordinate with shift teams to ensure seamless 24/7 coverage and effective handovers between shifts.
  • Develop processing plans and optimizing resource allocation.

Maintenance and Upgrades

  • Plan and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring all equipment and systems are serviced according to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance and upgrade projects, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
  • Implement preventive maintenance actions to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues promptly.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all equipment operations comply with relevant building codes, and environmental, health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and records to support compliance audits and certifications.

Technical Support

  • Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Gather and analyse data and reports.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Some hands-on experience in facilities management, engineering, building services or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of data centre mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC, chillers, pumps and compressors.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.

Why Join DayOne?

  • Be a part of a company scaling fast in a booming industry.
  • Work on an international stage with global leaders.
  • Shape your career in a culture that values curiosity, agility, and bold thinking.

DayOne is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

If you're ready to grow with one of the fastest-moving companies in the data center industry, apply now and be part of our global journey.
