Google Cloud Consultant Build scalable and secure cloud environments that actually work

Location: Hybrid, Helsinki HQ or remote from Finland

If you believe cloud should make things simpler, more secure, and more scalable – not more complex – this role at Gapps lets you turn that into everyday practice.

Have you been thinking about your next career step – where you’d get to truly do this?

Maybe you’re not actively looking for a new role right now, but maybe you’ve been thinking:

• You’d like your work to have a more visible impact on real systems and customers.

• You want more ownership, not just executing predefined tasks.

• You enjoy cloud work, but would like to move beyond maintaining environments.

• You want to build solutions that actually scale and last in real-world use.

At Gapps, we’re growing. We’re always looking for Google Cloud Consultants to support our growth.

Instead of rushing into last-minute hiring, we’re forging new connections with professionals who care about creating secure, scalable cloud environments that truly support the business.

If that sounds like you, this is your invitation to start the conversation.

What this role is about, in short

Let’s start with the essentials:

✅ Purpose: You’ll help organisations design, build, and develop Google Cloud environments that are secure, scalable, and usable in real business contexts.

This includes things like cloud architecture, migrations, infrastructure development, security, governance, and continuous improvement.

At its core, this role is about helping customers move from “we have cloud” → to → “our cloud actually works for us”.

✅ Location: Hybrid role in Finland. Work remotely or from our Helsinki HQ (Kalasatama). What matters is impact and ownership, not how much you visit the office.

✅ Growth: You can grow deeper into Google Cloud expertise, expand toward broader consulting and customer ownership, or contribute to how Gapps builds more scalable, productised cloud services.

✅ Team: You’ll work closely with other cloud experts, consultants, and customer teams. This is not a lone-wolf setup – you’ll have strong sparring support and shared ownership.

✅ Compensation: Salary range 48 000–72 000 € / year depending on your experience and seniority. (Senior profiles discussed individually.)

Why this probably isn’t for you: This isn’t a narrow specialist role or a purely internal position. If you prefer clearly defined boundaries, minimal customer interaction, or working only within a fixed scope, this environment may not feel like the right fit.

Why this could be your next career move

Maybe you’ve worked with cloud for a while already – as a consultant, platform engineer, DevOps specialist, or internal IT expert.

You understand the technology, but you’ve probably also seen the real challenge:

Cloud environments don’t fail because of tools. They fail because they’re not designed, managed, or used in a way that fits the organisation.

At Gapps, this role exists because our customers need more than infrastructure.

They need someone who understands:

• How cloud environments are built

• How they are actually used

• How they evolve over time

• and how they support real business needs

You’d be joining at a moment where cloud is already a foundation – but expectations around it are higher than ever: security, scalability, cost control, and long-term development all matter at the same time.

That’s why this role is so important right now.

This is a strong next career step if you:

• Enjoy combining technical understanding with people, communication, and structure

• Like working close to customers and being trusted with responsibility

• Want variety: projects differ, stakeholders differ, and no two environments look the same

• Appreciate calm, professional collaboration more than hype or heroics

Career-wise, this role doesn’t lock you into one narrow lane. At Gapps, Google Cloud consultants grow in different directions:

• deeper into senior Cloud expertise

• toward project & change leadership

• or into shaping how our services, methods, and ways of working evolve

What matters is not chasing titles, but building credibility – with customers, colleagues, and yourself.

Gapps is a good place for professionals who have a life outside work, but still care deeply about doing meaningful, high-quality work. We’re not a startup, nor a corporate machine. We’re an expert house that’s intentionally growing up, building clearer structures, and raising the bar on how we deliver in the future.

If you’re looking for the next role where your experience is respected, your judgement is trusted, and your work has a visible impact, this might be it!

Role details

What you’d actually do

As a Google Cloud Consultant, you work at the intersection of infrastructure, architecture, and real-world usage. Your job is to make sure Google Cloud environments are not only technically sound but also usable, secure, and aligned with how the organisation works today.

Your work typically includes:

• Designing and developing Google Cloud environments

• Supporting migrations and building new cloud setups

• Improving existing environments (security, cost, performance, governance)

• Working with customers to understand needs and translate them into solutions

• Collaborating with other experts to deliver working solutions, not just plans

• Acting as a trusted expert who helps customers make clear decisions

You don’t need to be the deepest specialist in every situation, but you do need to understand the possibilities, limitations, and consequences well enough to co-create the right solution with the team.

What a typical week looks like

There’s no single “average day”, but most weeks include a mix of:

• Customer meetings and workshops (remote and occasionally on-site)

• Project work: architecture, implementation, development

• Internal collaboration with project managers, solution engineers, and other consultants

• Hands-on work such as documentation, onboarding materials, training content, or environment reviews

• Problem-solving when reality doesn’t match the original plan (because it rarely does)

Some projects are intense and complex. Others are smaller and more contained. What stays consistent is the expectation that you take ownership of your part and communicate clearly when things change.

Who you’d work with

Internally, you’ll work closely with:

• Project & Change Managers, who lead overall delivery and change tracks

• Solution Architects & Engineers, who focus on the technical backbone and configurations

• Other Google Cloud consultants with different backgrounds and strengths

On the customer side, your stakeholders typically include:

• IT and internal project managers

• Information security and legal

• HR, internal communications, and business stakeholders

• Steering groups in larger organisations

This role suits someone who’s comfortable working across functions and adjusting their communication style depending on who’s in the room.

How success is measured

Success in this role isn’t about rushing through tasks or ticking boxes. After the first 6–12 months, success looks like:

• Customers trust you and give positive feedback on both expertise and reliability

• Projects move forward smoothly, and issues are surfaced early, not hidden

• You contribute to better ways of working – not just delivering, but improving how we deliver

• You’ve grown your own understanding of Google Cloud environments, risks, and best practices in real customer contexts
