Join our Food Service Innovation team in Espoo as a Summer Trainee, Material Innovation and dive into the fascinating world of product development and cutting-edge research. This is a unique opportunity to take your studies to the next level by collaborating with industry experts, expanding your professional network, and shaping the future of sustainable materials.
Where you’ll be:
You will be located at our headquarters in Espoo, Finland and you should be within reasonable commuting distance from here. This is a primarily in-office role, with the flexibility of one remote day per week.
What We Offer:
As our Summer Trainee, you’ll play a key role in our material innovation projects and be a valued part of our team. Your work will directly contribute to developing new products, supporting sustainability, and driving the packaging industry forward. We offer varied tasks in laboratory and data analysis, as well as the opportunity to grow and learn in an exciting international company.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing standard laboratory analyses and hands-on experiments with fibers and chemistries
Analysing and interpreting research data, turning insights into actionable recommendations
Preparing clear result reports and materials, contributing to effective knowledge transfer within the team
Conducting studies and surveys, such as literature reviews and industry benchmarking, in technical fields
Supporting ongoing projects with your scientific expertise and curiosity
Collaborating with colleagues in an innovative working environment
Who You Are:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (or nearing completion) in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related field
Knowledge of wood fibers or fiber products is essential
Solid basic chemistry knowledge plus hands-on laboratory experience
Excellent command of Excel and a strong analytical mindset
Demonstrated talent in reporting, documentation, and preparing clear materials
A positive “can do” attitude combined with a high level of self-drive, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to evolving tasks
Ability to work independently without constant supervision, as well as part of a collaborative team
Eager to combine both practical lab work and desk-based research
Working fluency in English (other languages are a plus)
Other Requirements:
A driver’s license and access to a car are considered a plus, as occasional travel to laboratory sites is needed
