Thesis worker IT/OT Site Services

UPM IT SGA is seeking a Master’s thesis worker to support our IT/OT Site Services team in Lappeenranta. The six-month temporary position begins on May 4th.

“UPM IT/OT continues to strengthen our security landscape as we move toward a more automated and AI-assisted future. We are now looking for a thesis worker who will study, develop and help deploy AI tools and processes that support vulnerability and overall cyber threat exposure management. The aim is to provide a clear and accessible view of UPM production sites to help identify concrete and prioritized actions that support strong cybersecurity.” – Toni Häkkänen, Senior Manager, IT/OT 

What you will do 

• Define the overall study plan and expected outcomes in alignment with your academic requirements 

• Define the theoretical scope and practices within the UPM IT landscape of services 

• Plan and carry out the study in collaboration with UPM teams and other relevant stakeholders 

• Contribute to deploying results, processes or other practical solutions within UPM IT and OT teams 

•  Document and report your findings as jointly agreed 

 
Who you are 

• You are progressing in your studies and ready to begin your master’s thesis work 

• You have a good understanding of UPM IT tools, especially IT/OT cybersecurity and ServiceNow 

• You have a foundational understanding of AI technologies 

• You have a good understanding of cybersecurity in UPM’s OT environment and related IT tools 

• You are familiar with vulnerability management tools (such as Tenable, Pentera or similar)
