Req ID:522955

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Product Costing Engineer in Paris Area (St Ouen)  or Valenciennes (North of France) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your cost analysis and technical expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a dynamic and collaborative team of professionals.

You'll play a pivotal role in estimating the technical cost of parts and assemblies, supporting the Engineering team in adopting a Design-to-Cost approach, and contributing to the creation of target costs for tenders and projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, Sourcing, and Industrialization teams), build and use cost models, analyze cost drivers, and propose design improvements to reduce costs.

You’ll specifically take care of providing cost breakdowns to the sourcing team, but also contribute to the development of costing tools and methodologies.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Developing and using costing tools to calculate technical costs (Should Cost / Could Cost)

  • Analyzing and detecting cost drivers of products

  • Proposing design improvements to reduce technical and industrial costs

  • Ensuring feasibility of products and verifying industrial processes

  • Providing cost breakdowns to sourcing teams and supporting technical business cases

  • Sharing feedback from suppliers and contributing to design rules and best practices

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field

  • Experience or understanding of costing methodologies (Should Cost / Could Cost)

  • Knowledge of industrial processes and their segmentation

  • Familiarity with railway industry norms, certifications, and quality gates (e.g., V-Cycle)

  • Understanding of Electrical Engineering design, architecture, and tools (e.g., CATIA, E3S, SEE ONE)

  • Knowledge of EMC, maintainability, safety, and product components (e.g., harnesses, connectors, relays)

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset, collaboration skills, and adaptability

  • Dynamic, proactive, and capable of working autonomously

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous daily routines

  • Work with cutting-edge tools and methodologies for cost estimation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and supportive colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative and impactful projects

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning opportunities

  • Progress towards roles such as Senior Costing Engineer or Costing Manager

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Important to note

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across the 63  countries we operate in. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
