Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team in Hamburg. 
In this role, you will support the day-to-day accounting operations, monthly closing routines, and tax compliance processes under both German GAAP (HGB) and US GAAP frameworks.

Location: Hamburg, Germany (hybrid work)

What you’ll do

General Ledger & Operational Accounting

• Manage daily cash and banking activities.


• Execute monthly and quarterly closing tasks according to German GAAP and US GAAP standards.


• Review standard journal entries.


• Handle operational intercompany transactions, including intercompany billing and cost allocation.


• Manage exchange rate conversion routines.

Revenue Recognition & Accounts Receivable

• Support monthly and quarterly revenue recognition procedures under German GAAP and US GAAP.


• Maintain Percentage of Completion (POC) documentation, deferred revenue and unbilled files.


• Assist with Year-End Accounts Receivable (AR) valuation adjustments and ongoing contract management with respect to AR.

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Prepare and submit monthly local compliance filings, including VAT (Umsatzsteuer), Wage Tax
  (Lohnsteuer), and Social Security declarations.


• Assist in the preparation of annual Corporate Income Tax (Körperschaftsteuer) and Trade Tax
  (Gewerbesteuer) submissions.


• Provide support during tax audits and statutory audits for German financial Statements.


• Maintain and prepare the monthly local closing checklist to ensure a proper month-close.

What to Have for this position

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration.


• 1–3 years of professional experience in accounting or audit.


• Experience with localized German tax routines (VAT, Wage Tax) is highly valued.


• Solid foundational understanding of German GAAP (HGB); familiarity or exposure to US GAAP is a strong plus.


• Professional proficiency in both German and English is mandatory.


• Strong Excel skills; prior experience using enterprise ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is an asset.
