Arbeitsbeschreibung - Business Development Manager (m/w/d)

SmartStep Consulting designs market-appropriate access to innovations for pharmaceutical and MedTech companies, enabling patients to receive better treatments faster. As part of the G&L Healthcare Group, we drive international growth and leverage opportunities arising from current EU HTA procedures. In the role of Business Development Manager for the Market Access Business Unit, you will work closely with the international leadership team, driving strategic initiatives that shape global market entry and reimbursement strategies.

Your mission

Business Development & International Partnering: Identify, evaluate, and acquire new business opportunities in Market Access; build strategic partnerships with manufacturers, distributors, consultancies, and associations across EU markets and selected global regions.
Go-to-Market & Proposal Development: Develop offer strategies (pricing, scoping, value proposition), prepare and present proposals, and lead contract negotiations through to closure.
Market Access Strategy: Analyze market trends (HTA, pricing, reimbursement), conduct stakeholder mapping (payers, HTA bodies, hospitals), and derive growth opportunities per country.
Account & Pipeline Management: Maintain the opportunity funnel, manage forecasting and KPI reporting; collaborate closely with project teams to ensure seamless handover of deals into delivery.
Representation & Networking: Attend industry conferences, actively nurture an international network, and provide thought leadership on EU HTA and reimbursement topics.

Your profile

Completed degree (e.g., Health Economics, Business Administration, Public Health, Life Sciences) or equivalent qualification.
Several years of experience in Business Development within healthcare, ideally with proven Market Access expertise (pricing/reimbursement/HTA) in Europe.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; ability to translate complex regulations and market requirements into actionable growth plans.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills in German and English; confident in C-level meetings and at conferences.
Independent, results-driven, proactive; high self-motivation and willingness to travel.
Proficient in MS Office/Teams, CRM and sales tools, and LinkedIn for social selling and partnering.
