For our Engineering Team in Germany we are looking for a Senior Electronic Engineer (m/f/d) located in Metzingen (Stuttgart Region)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer for our advanced high-voltage, high-power power electronics systems used in semiconductor and industrial applications. This role is focused on system architecture, platform strategy, and complex problem solving across multiple products.

As a Senior Engineer, you will operate with broad autonomy and influence, guiding technical direction, setting engineering standards, and solving the most challenging power electronics problems in the organization. Success in this role is defined by system robustness, scalability, and long-term technology impact—not short-term firefighting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Define system-level architectures for high-voltage, high-power, digitally controlled switch-mode power supplies

  • Lead design trade-offs across topology, control strategy, magnetics, insulation, and thermal design

  • Establish best practices and design standards for power electronics and high-voltage systems across product lines

Advanced Design & Development

  • Develop and validate advanced simulation models for complex power systems, including plasma and highly dynamic loads

  • Guide digital power control strategies, working with firmware and control teams on stability, performance, and robustness

  • Provide deep technical expertise in root-cause analysis of complex electrical, control, and reliability issues

Product & System Ownership

  • Provide technical oversight for multiple products or platforms from concept through production and field deployment

  • Partner with product management, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure scalable and manufacturable designs

  • Lead technical risk assessment and ensure compliance with applicable safety, EMC, and regulatory standards

  • Cross-Functional & External Engagement

  • Act as a senior technical interface with key customers, suppliers, and partners on system-level challenges

  • Influence technology roadmaps and long-term platform strategies in collaboration with engineering leadership

Mentorship & Influence

  • Mentor senior and junior engineers, raising the technical bar across the organization

  • Lead design and architecture reviews, providing clear technical direction without direct people management

  • Expect approximately 10% travel for targeted customer engagement, supplier collaboration, and system integration

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Expertise

  • Expert-level experience in high-voltage and high-power switch-mode power supply (SMPS) design

  • Strong background in digitally controlled power systems using DSPs, microcontrollers, or FPGAs

  • Deep understanding of power conversion topologies, magnetics, insulation systems, thermal design, and high-voltage safety

  • Experience applying safety, EMC, and regulatory requirements in semiconductor or industrial environments

Professional Capabilities

  • Proven ability to operate autonomously and make architecture-level technical decisions

  • Demonstrated ownership of complex systems across multiple product generations

  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills for ambiguous, cross-disciplinary problems

  • Ability to influence technical direction across teams without formal authority

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluent English communication (C2 proficiency preferred), German preferred min B1 -  level

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field (required) and 8+ years of progressive experience in power electronics or electrical engineering product development

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics or Control Systems (preferred)

  • Experience in semiconductor capital equipment, plasma systems, industrial power, or high-voltage applications strongly preferred

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:

  • An international environment in an innovative electrotechnical high-tech electrical engineering company

  • Challenging and varied tasks

  • Use of our technologies worldwide in industrial and semiconductor applications

  • Collegial collaboration in a globally networked team

  • Flexible working hours for an optimal work-life balance

  • Areas of responsibility with a high degree of independence

  • Individual and needs-oriented training and development opportunities

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:

  • Corporate benefits with financial advantages in everyday life

  • Capital-forming benefits

  • Job bike to support environmentally friendly mobility

  • Health offers for your well-being

  • Modern office equipment for pleasant and efficient work

  • On-site IT support
