Our client is a fast-growing European deep-tech company developing systems that push beyond the limits of classical computing.
We are looking for an experienced technical leader to take responsibility for system operations and characterization in an advanced ion-trap quantum environment.
Important: You do not need to come from the exact same technology niche. Your strength lies in leading highly skilled experts and physicists, understanding complex experimental systems and bringing structure, clarity and ownership into a demanding high-tech environment.
You will lead a highly skilled team working on next-generation quantum systems
You will stay close to the technology while taking real leadership responsibility
You will bring structure to an environment moving from research excellence toward scalable system operations
You will work closely with physics, engineering, operations and senior technical leadership
You will become part of an international team building one of Europe’s most relevant future technologies
Lead and develop a team of scientists and technical experts in a complex quantum systems environment
Take responsibility for system operation, characterization, stability and continuous improvement
Create clarity across multiple technical priorities, parallel projects and expert discussions
Establish standards, documentation and working methods for reliable and scalable system operations
Assess technical risks, deviations and escalation topics in close collaboration with adjacent teams
Support hiring, onboarding, capability building and long-term team development
Strong technical background in physics, optics, photonics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable field
Experience in leading technical or scientific teams, ideally in a high-tech, research-driven or deep-tech environment
Solid understanding of complex experimental systems, hardware-heavy environments or advanced physical systems
Ability to lead strong experts with clarity, technical credibility and pragmatic decision-making
Hands-on mindset and willingness to stay close to the system rather than managing only from a distance
Nice to have: experience with ion traps, AMO physics, quantum optics, system characterization, technical operations, IP processes or building scalable structures in a growing high-tech environment
