Assistant Finance Manager - Boutique Foreign Bank

A boutique, Stable Foreign Bank in Hong Kong is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to join their Finance Department. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in all rounded financial and regulatory reporting within the banking sector. You will work in a flat team of 4, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

Job Duties:

1. Financial Reporting & Operations: Responsible for preparing monthly financial statements and managing daily accounting processes including account booking, expense tracking, and reconciliation.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Check HKMA regulatory reports prepared by the outsourcing team and prepare variance reports for HKMA regulatory returns.
3. Audit & Taxation: Liaise with internal and external auditors to address enquiries and assist external parties with the filing of relevant tax returns.
4. Internal Controls: Assist the Head of Finance in maintaining and monitoring internal controls and ensuring the Accounting Manual remains compliant with HKGAAP and HKFRS.
5. System & Process Improvement: Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements and identify ways to improve operational processes within the department
6. Treasury & Expense Management: Monitor cheque issuances, reconcile discrepancies between General Ledger (GL) and Sub-Ledger (SL), and approve accounting entries for system encoding.
7. Ad-Hoc Support: Provide backup support for the Head of Finance and assist Senior Management with special assignments as needed.

Job Requirements:

1. Education: University degree, preferably in Accounting or a related discipline.
2. Professional Qualification: Semi-qualified or Finalist CPA status is highly preferred.
3. Experience: At least 4 years of working experience in financial and regulatory reporting within banks.
4. Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Hong Kong and International Accounting/Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS/IAS).
5. Regulatory Familiarity: Direct experience or knowledge regarding HKMA monthly returns is essential.
6. Language Skills: English and Cantonese
7. Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive, team-oriented mindset and the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
