The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
You will be responsible for:
providing all-rounded support for the team and ensuring compliance with museum standards, including but not limited to schedules and budgets, working closely with project teams, serving as liaison across all WKCDA departments and outside vendors with all administrative work, developing agreements, monitoring expenditure, ensuring deadlines are met;
assisting the Team to plan and implement from the pre-opening phase preparation to project completion, including on-site supervision of exhibitions and overseeing (de-)installation of exhibitions;
supporting the Senior Designers, including design, schedules, budget tracking, and procurement process to ensure the design initiatives are fulfilled within budget and completed upon time;
working closely with key stakeholders to ensure the latest design updates and information are provided for execution;
following through the procurement process of exhibition design related goods and services from sourcing, procuring, routing, tracking to invoicing;
consolidating design initiatives and utilising resources to fulfil the requests which can facilitate an efficient and effective operations within the team;
liaise between designers and contractor, managing and monitoring of the fabrication phase;
managing a tidy and systematic documentation and filing systems for the team; and
performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by HKPM.
You Should:
possess a recognised university degree in relevant fields such as museum or cultural studies, arts administration, project management or equivalent;
have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of leading and project managing exhibitions within a museum or gallery environment, or in cultural institution;
possess experience working in a diversified team and be able to prioritise competitive demand from different parties;
have strong project management and team skills with the ability to work with tight deadlines and manage multiple projects within an ever-changing environment;
be able to solve problems and prioritise needs in a variety of situations where immediate decisions are necessary;
have outstanding ability and proactive attitude to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple complex projects concurrently;
be mature, highly organised, detail-oriented and sensitive with numbers with high accuracy;
be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word and Excel and PowerPoint); knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent software would be preferred; and
have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in English and Chinese.
