Associate Private Equity

WHO

A leading global law firm with offices across APAC and beyond is seeking a junior associate to join its Private Equity and Corporate Advisory group in Hong Kong. The team advises top-tier private equity sponsors, sovereign wealth and pension funds, and corporate clients on complex, high-value transactions across the region. This is a collaborative, cross-border environment where associates work as one team across the APAC region. 

WHAT

You will play a key role in advising on a variety of M&A transactions, including private equity leveraged buy-outs and control acquisitions, significant minority investments alongside founders and controlling shareholders, Hong Kong take-privates and public-to-private transactions, cross-border M&A, secondaries transactions in collaboration with the funds team, and selected pre-IPO and minority investments. You will be given early responsibility and direct client exposure, developing strong technical and commercial skills within a close-knit team. The work spans the full investment lifecycle — from capital deployment through to exits by private sale, IPO, continuation vehicle or secondaries — and involves close collaboration with debt financing, funds, antitrust and IP/tech teams.

YOU

The successful candidate will be Hong Kong qualified with 1 to 3 years' post-qualification experience and a background in corporate or M&A work, ideally with exposure to private equity transactions. Strong bilingual Mandarin and English language skills are essential, as is strong technical drafting and transactional capability. You will be commercially minded, proactive and solution-oriented, able to manage multiple workstreams within tight timeframes, and a strong communicator who builds credibility with clients and colleagues alike. A collaborative, team-first mindset, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in understanding clients' businesses and objectives are all important. You should be motivated to contribute to client relationship development and the long-term growth of the practice.
