AWS DevOps Engineer - Tier 1 Buyside Firm Quantitative Trading Firm & Market Maker Hong Kong

My client is a global quantitative high-frequency trading firm powered by technology, data, and scientific rigor; operating across trading and research platforms where reliability, low-latency performance, and uptime are non-negotiable.

As they scale, my client is hiring an AWS DevOps Engineer to help build and maintain the cloud and production infrastructure that powers trading operations, internal tooling, and large-scale data systems.

Responsibilities

1. Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code
2. Automate systems and administrative tasks to reduce manual toil.
3. Maintain high availability for production trading systems, monitor infrastructure respond to alerts, and troubleshoot issues; participate in on-call rotation for critical systems.
4. Support containerized, distributed environments using Docker and Kubernetes
5. Build and improve infrastructure for rapid storage and analysis of large trading datasets; manage AWS storage services.
6. Enforce IAM best practices, access management, and backup/disaster recovery processes to meet security standards.
7. Work closely with engineering and trading teams to understand their infrastructure needs. Create and maintain clear technical documentation.

Requirements

1. 5+ years hands-on devops experience.
2. Strong production experience with Linux systems.
3. Deep working knowledge of EC2, VPC networking, IAM, S3/EBS/EFS/FSx, and EKS.
4. Proven experience with Terraform (preferred) or CloudFormation.
5. Experience with CloudWatch, Datadog, or equivalent tools.
6. Experience building and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines
7. Strong Bash/shell scripting skills.
8. Analytical, detail-oriented, able to work autonomously, and comfortable in a fast-paced production environment.
9. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Nice to have / preferred

1. Experience in financial services / trading environments
2. AWS professional certifications
3. Experience with high-performance / low-latency infrastructure
4. Multi-region infrastructure experience
5. Python / C# (and/or other modern languages) is nice to have
