HK$ 97,787 to HK$ 143,298 (HGPS point 34 to 44) per month including Monthly Allowance | |||

Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance. | |||

Key Responsibilities: | |||
1. | Lead bioinformatics analysis and data management. | ||
2. | Establish and maintain governance processes to ensure the bioinformatics analysis meets strategic goals. | ||
3. | Evaluate and incorporate up-to-date technologies into initiatives. | ||
4. | Produce documentation of algorithms, validations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other processes and procedures as required. | ||
5. | Provide consultation and communication in data analysis, statistics, genomics, and other areas of bioinformatics, to other members of the team. | ||
6. | Review or draft laboratory reports and laboratory documents relevant to bioinformatics, such as validations reports and SOPs. | ||
7. | Oversee general laboratory duties such as accreditation and document control. | ||
8. | Liaise with / Communicate amongst pathologists, clinicians and information technologist, etc. to meet service and operational needs. | ||
9. | Supervise bioinformatics staff and provide training for laboratory and clinical staff on bioinformatics. | ||
10. | Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors. | ||

Entry Requirements: | |||
1. | (a) Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Clinical Science, Biomedical Science or a related discipline, or equivalent; OR (b) Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Clinical Science, Biomedical Science or equivalent plus a post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics or a related discipline, or equivalent. | ||
2. | At least 10 years of working experience related to the field of bioinformatics. (a) Experience in working with large-scale multi-omics data; and (b) Extensive experience in bioinformatics solutions for clinical diagnostics or research; and (c) Thorough understanding of a combination of sequencing, genomics, and molecular diagnostics, as well as quality assurance systems in laboratories. | ||

Preferred Attributes: | |||
1. | Hands-on experience in building bioinformatics solutions for clinical applications, especially for blood cancer genomics and/or inherited blood diseases. | ||
2. | Extensive experience in Linux administration and the use of Python, R, C++, Java or other programming languages. | ||
3. | Experience in variant curation in accordance with latest professional recommendations and/or guidelines. | ||
4. | Experience in statistical analysis and bioinformatics methods/ tools/ databases. | ||
5. | Working experience in clinical laboratories would be an advantage. | ||
6. | Excellent verbal and written communication skills. | ||
7. | Ability to work within a team or independently and to learn things quickly. | ||
8. | Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and attention to detail. | ||
