Building Services Inspector

Department/ Hospital: Engineering Department, Haven of Hope Hospital
Pay: HK$58,922 to HK$88,971 [HGPS point 24 to 33] per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities
1. To manage the day-to-day repair and maintenance jobs and minor improvement works related to all building/E&M works of the hospital.
2. To provide technical support on planning, coordination and management of minor works or capital works projects.
3. To monitor progress of site works and ensure proper control of works materials and workmanships.
4. To supervise and monitor the performance of consultants and contractors.
5. To liaise with users’ representatives, contractors, consultants and other parties on all matters relating to users’ requirements, access, disturbance, programme, etc. for efficient execution of works on site.
6. To carry out routine inspections of the building works/ building services works and check for conformity with the drawings, specification and contract requirements, and report all unsatisfactory works.
7. To attend and witness testing & commissioning of alternations & additions and renovation projects.
8. To prepare the maintenance contracts according to planned, corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance.
9. To prepare the maintenance budget plan.
10. To identify the life cycle of various equipment for estimating yearly life cycle costing.
11. To coordinate with Safety Officers of contractors, Safety Auditor of consultants and other parties for monitoring site safety.
12. To monitor all environmental, health and safety aspects of the contractors’ works. Report all non-compliance of safety procedures immediately to the contractor’s representative and the project team, and record this in the site records.
13. To supervise and conduct performance reviews of in-house staff of the department.
14. To provide administrative support and prepare reports for the department.
15. To attend emergency calls after office hours and may need to work outside office hours and perform typhoon duties.
16. To perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements:
1. A Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent.
2. 8 years of relevant experience.
3. Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).

Preferable Attributes / Exposure:
1. (a) Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE. OR
    (b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE.
2. Formal training in occupational safety and health.
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
4. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
5. Outgoing and able to work under pressure and stressful situation.
6. Knowledge of other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, Internet/Intranet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office applications, etc.)
7. Practical experience in public works projects.
8. At least 4 years of working experience in the capacity of Assistant Building Services Inspector, or equivalent.
