Position : Clerk of Works / Building Services Inspector

Pay\: HK$58,922 to HK$88,971 (HGPS Pt. 24 – Pt. 33) per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibilities:
The appointee will assist Senior Manager (Facilities Management) & administrators under the Administrative Services Division. Major duties are:
1. Assist in leading a team of in-house technical staff and contractors in managing and tackling all building & building services related matters.
2. Provide technical assistance on management of minor work/equipment/ service projects including repair and alteration works.
3. Assist in monitoring progress of site works and controlling of works materials and workmanships.
4. Provide technical support to project works in relation to all building/E&M works and conduct site inspection and monitor progress of site works.
5. Supervise and monitor the performance of contractors and other parties.
6. Coordinate with Safety Officers of contractors, Safety Auditor of consultants and other parties for monitoring site safety.
7. Assist in preparing and submitting inspection and progress reports.
8. Carry out routine inspections of the building works/ building service works and check for conformity with the drawings, specification and contract requirements, and report all unsatisfactory works.
9. Assist in administering defects and outstanding works.
10. Monitor all environmental, health and safety aspects of the contractors’ works. Report all non-compliance of safety procedures immediately to the contractor’s representative and the project team, and record this in the site records.
11. Liaise with users’ representatives, contractors, consultants and other parties on all matters relating to users’ requirements, access, disturbance, programme etc. for efficient execution of works on site.
12. Work according to duty roster, attend emergency calls and perform typhoon duties.
13. Perform any other duties as required to facilitate implementation of minor work/ capital work projects of the department including site supervision of construction works.
Entry Requirements:
1. A Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Studies or Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering from a Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent; and
2. 8 years of relevant experience; and
3. Obtain valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).
Preferable Attributes / Exposure:
1. (a) Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE OR (b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE.
2. Formal training in occupational safety and health.
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
4. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
5. Outgoing and able to work under pressure and stressful situation.
6. Knowledge of other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, Internet/Intranet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office applications, etc.)
7. Practical experience in public works projects.
8. For Building Services Inspector, at least 4 years of working experience in the capacity of Assistant Building Services Inspector, or equivalent.
