Job Description - Commercial Director - Trust and Asset Management

About the job

This is a high-impact commercial leadership role at the intersection of private wealth, family office services, and institutional-grade fintech infrastructure. As Commercial Director, you will be responsible for driving business growth, establishing and scaling our trust and wealth advisory capabilities in Hong Kong—a critical market for our regional expansion. You will have the unique advantage of operating within a technology-enabled financial services group backed by one of the world’s most prominent investors, giving you access to sophisticated internal platforms, a robust institutional client base, and strong cross-functional support.

You will hold commercial ownership of the trust business, combining client acquisition, trust structuring expertise, and team leadership to build a scalable and profitable practice. Leveraging our proprietary AI and blockchain capabilities, you will deliver differentiated, technology-enhanced solutions to high-net-worth clients and family offices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Commercial & Business Development: Drive revenue growth by cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and professional intermediaries. Develop and execute a strategic business plan to capture market share in Hong Kong’s trust and wealth management sector.
  2. Trust Structuring & Advisory: Lead the establishment and ongoing administration of onshore and offshore trusts. Collaborate with external counsel, tax advisors, and accountants to design bespoke trust structures that address complex client needs.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams—including tax specialists, legal advisors, and family office consultants—to deliver integrated, client-centric solutions. Leverage the group’s fintech platforms to enhance service efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  4. Regulatory Oversight & Compliance: Ensure all trust activities strictly adhere to the Trust and Company Service Providers (TCSP) licensing requirements, the Trust Ordinance, and all relevant regulatory guidelines. Maintain the highest standards of governance and risk management.
  5. Team Leadership & Capability Building: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Provide internal training to uplift the organization’s trust and wealth advisory capabilities, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, Finance, or Business; or recognized professional qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  2. Experience: Minimum 5 years of trust management experience, preferably within a trust company, law firm, or accounting firm specializing in private wealth.
  3. Commercial Track Record: Demonstrated success in business development, client acquisition, and revenue generation within the trust or wealth management sector.
  4. Technical Expertise: Deep familiarity with family trust establishment and maintenance, including associated tax, legal, and investment considerations. Strong command of the TCSP regulatory framework, Trust Ordinance, and Companies Registry guidelines.
  5. Certifications (Preferred): STEP, CTP, CPA, or CFP qualifications are highly desirable.
  6. Network: Established relationships with high-net-worth clients, family offices, or professional intermediaries (law firms, private banks, etc.) is a significant advantage.
  7. Languages: Fluent in Mandarin, with excellent written and spoken English and Chinese.
  8. Leadership & Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex client relationships, and integrate resources across functions. Strong communication, service orientation, and a proactive approach to business development.
