WHO
Our client is one of Hong Kong's longest-established law firms, with a strong regional footprint that extends across mainland China. It is seeking a construction disputes lawyer to join its litigation practice at senior associate level, working closely with the partners in the construction disputes team on complex and large-scale contentious matters. The firm prides itself on a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, and it invests heavily in the learning and development of its people.
WHAT
You will handle contentious construction matters, advising on complex, large-scale disputes arising from building and construction projects and acting for employers and contractors in both arbitration and litigation. Day to day, that means undertaking research and producing clear, accurate findings tailored to specific legal issues, discussing and negotiating with clients on complex construction matters, and attending client meetings to discuss points of law and understand client requirements. You will also prepare bill narratives summarising completed work, contribute to the management and marketing of the practice area, and build your professional profile through involvement with external industry bodies.
YOU
The successful candidate will be a Hong Kong qualified lawyer with a minimum of six years' post-qualification experience in construction-related dispute resolution; candidates with more experience may be considered at counsel level. You will be fluent in spoken and written English, with proficiency in Chinese an advantage though not a requirement. A good team player with strong interpersonal skills, commercial acumen and client management ability, you will be dynamic, self-motivated and comfortable working under pressure.
