Consultant (Cardiothoracic Surgery)

1.

Provide specialist services.

2.

Supervise Residents undergoing specialist training.

3.

Undertake teaching and administrative work.

4.

Undergo continuing medical education and professional development.

5.

Conduct research as appropriate.

1.

Registered medical practitioner under the Medical Registration Ordinance; and

2.

Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Surgery) Cardio-thoracic Surgery Board or equivalent; and

3.

Registered in the Specialist Register in the relevant specialty of the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

Staff members in the rank are expected to meet the 4 core competencies set for the Consultant post. They are:

- Functional competency.

- Personal competency.

- People and team competency.

- Organization effectiveness

2.

Holding the trainer status of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong is preferred.

3.

Contribution to professional development including research, teaching and training.

4.

Experience in Cardiac Surgery is preferred.

A full curriculum vitae with detailed clinical exposure, an action plan and one written reference from the applicant’s supervisor within the past 5 years on the applicant’s personality, professional skills, management competency and performance are required. 

The Action Plan on the following topic, with not more than 2,000 words, should be submitted through e-recruitment system on or before the application deadline:

    “Strategic plan for the Development of Cardiac Surgical Services in Hong Kong Island Cluster”
