The Team:

The group consists of approximately 12 analysts who work in a collaborative, friendly environment that encourages knowledge‑sharing and mutual support. The position reports directly to the Analytical Manager and serves as a key liaison between senior leadership and the analyst cohort. Team members value collaboration, analytical excellence and cross-skilling, and working together to deliver high-quality and timely ratings that support financial markets. Our team operates with an enterprise perspective, connecting current analytical work to broader strategic objectives while fostering innovation and maintaining the highest quality standards.

Your credit analysis could influence the asset allocation decision of investors. You will be representing a globally recognized rating agency by providing your industry research and thought leaderships analysis which can influence investor sentiment and market behavior.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary analyst/ pod lead on a handful of Financial Institutions credits. Conduct timely and thorough credit analysis on financial institutions, primarily institutions in China and Hong Kong
  • Be a team-player able to step in and support execution and delivery of complex rating outcomes, as well as time-sensitive reviews
  • Draft press releases and rating reports in a fast-paced environment with publication deadlines
  • Collaborate with other analysts within Ratings division to enhance cross-sector knowledge and skills, leveraging your network at senior leadership level to ensure strategic alignment
  • Modeling leadership behaviours and coaching and mentoring junior staff
  • Interact with issuers, intermediaries, regulators, and investors in the region; Communicate analytical rationales succinctly.
  • Communicate with investors and market participants through high-quality presentations and direct engagement
  • Perform system research and publish thought leadership articles – industry reports and commentaries.
  • Represent the company and deliver analytical presentations in external conferences and seminars.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree. Advanced degree, CFA charter holder or CPA is a plus.
  • An S&P employee at this level would typically have minimum 10 years of analytical experience.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin) is essential. Additional language skills would be a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of China and Hong Kong financial institutions and relevant industries
  • Excellent knowledge of financial markets
  • A highly motivated team player who can work autonomously in a global, multi-cultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to articulate complex credit ideas, manage difficult conversations and negotiate effectively across functions and cultures
  • Results-oriented mindset with proven ability to deliver high-quality credit analysis in an efficient manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing market situations, with ability to make informed decisions and adapt to new information while maintaining strategic focus
  • Strategic thinking, confident decision making and strong integrity with commitment to continuous improvement in credit analysis methodologies, in close co-operation with the team’s sector lead and analytical manager

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership skills and change management aptitude - the capacity to challenge views, processes, and behaviors, especially in complex areas
  • Experience operating with autonomy and requiring minimal direction while maintaining focus on strategic outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage networks across functions and at senior leadership levels for strategic alignment
