Job Description - Head of IT - Financial Services

About the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on and strategic Head of IT to lead and shape the technology function within a growing financial services business. This is a unique opportunity for a senior technologist who thrives in a small, agile team and enjoys balancing strategy, architecture, and hands-on delivery. You will be responsible for driving IT strategy, ensuring robust and secure systems, and enabling business growth through scalable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the overall IT strategy and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
Oversee daily IT operations, infrastructure, and applications in a lean environment
Act as a hands-on leader, supporting both strategic initiatives and operational delivery
Ensure cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance
Manage third-party vendors, service providers, and technology partners
Lead system enhancements, digital transformation initiatives, and automation projects
Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Provide leadership and mentorship to a small IT team, fostering a high-performance culture
Work closely with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into technology solutions

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline
Fluency in English and Mandarin
15+ years of IT experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role
Prior experience in financial services (e.g. banking, wealth management, insurance, fintech) is essential.
Proven ability to operate effectively in a small team / hands-on role
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in Hong Kong financial services
Experience managing vendors and outsourced environments
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
