Department/Hospital\: Catering/ Dietetics Department, Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Pay\: HK$32,740 to HK$38,290 (HGPS point 12 - 15) per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Post A (Catering Department):
1. Daily manage and monitor service performance of the Contractor for the Outsourced Patient Food Services.
2. Report, follow-up and provide suggestion to rectify and improve the operation as well as ensuring the maximum contribution to the level of patient care from the catering services.
3. Provide executive and hands-on support to the operation in line with HA's new directives in patient food service and meeting service needs.
4. Responsible for patient catering operations such as food preparation and food assembly, and non-patient catering services such as canteen hygiene inspection.
5. Perform administrative work for the Catering Department.
6. Supervise frontline staff in each designated kitchen areas e.g. food preparation, plating, serving, cleaning, storing etc. to provide catering services according to patient needs.
7. Ensure all staff to work according to the pre-determined standards of hygiene, safety and established principles and policies.
8. Perform designated checklist and procedures for quality assurance and quality control.
9. Provide on job training and monitor catering staff.
10. Responsible for stock control, ordering goods and goods receipt.
11. Arrange for repair and maintenance of furniture, utensils, equipment and facilities.
12. Liaise with wards and other departments in any catering matters.
13. Perform all human resources matters in the department including SDR, orientation to new staff, annual manpower review and planning.
14. Provide emergency support when required.
15. Deputize Hospital Chef I when necessary.
16. The job requires shift work and if necessary, HC II may need to work at other KCC hospitals.
Post B (Dietetics Department):
1. Responsible for the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Nutrition Formula Supply Centre (Milk Kitchen) at both QEH and KWH, ensuring that high standards of infant and enteral formulae are produced for patients in a safe and hygienic environment, and services are delivered in a safe and timely manner.
2. Responsible for the storeroom management and inventory control of the Nutrition Formula Supply Centre.
3. Responsible for recipe development and perform cooking demonstration.
4. Participate in nutrition or dietetic-related projects.
For Post A and B:
1. Participate in the management of the Dietetic and Catering Management System.
2. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Entry Requirements:
1. Certificate in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Operations or equivalent; or Chef Apprenticeship; and
2. With a minimum of 2 years’ bulk cooking experience.
Preferable Attributes:
Post A:
1. With minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in relevant industries.
2. Hands-on experience in large scale cooking.
3. Knowledge and / or experience in DCMS, ERP, JOS, CMMS application.
4. Knowledge and / or experience in cook-chill system and production.
Post B:
1. Degree in Food and Nutrition or equivalent
2. Holder of Certificate of Competency (Boiler and Pressure Vessels Ordinance Class III\: All Electrically Heated Boilers including Automatically Controlled and Steam Receivers) ;or
3. Holder of Certificate of Competency (Boiler and Pressure Vessels Ordinance Class VI\: Steam Receivers).
For Post A and B:
1. Knowledge of or training in ISO quality systems, HACCP and OSH.
2. Possess PC skills, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
3. Good communication skills.

3. The service of Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be relocated to the Kai Tak Hospital in phases starting from year 2026.
